How to Cook Bam-i (Pancit Canton)
This is a Filipino version of stir fry noodles. Usually we do it with pork and chicken but I only can find pork for now at the fridge so yeah, only pork for this recipe. Some but optional, add black mushroom. Check the ingredients and procedure below. Enjoy!
Ingredients
- Garlic, onion and bell pepper
- Carrot, quarter
- Beans, 7 pieces
- Chicken cube
- Spring onions
- Cabbage
- Sayote (Chayote)
- Pork, about 100 grams
- Chorizo bilbao, Chinese sausage
- Rice noodles (sotanghon)
- Egg noodles (pancit canton)
- Calamansi (lime)
- Soy sauce, vinegar
Procedure
Prepare ingredients. Chayote and carrots into thin strips. Same as green beans.
Saute pork fat. Add oil if necessary. Drop in garlic and onions. Add bell pepper. Cook for about 30 seconds. Add the lean pork. Season with salt, black pepper. Optionally add MSG, in this case I use Magic Sarap. Cook it for 3-5 minutes. Add chorizo bilbao, cook for a minute. Add the green beans and add soy sauce and vinegar. Add half chicken cube and 1 1/2 glass of water. Let it boil and cook the beans for 3-4 minutes. Add the carrot strips and sayote and cook for another 3 minutes. Lastly add the cabbage, spring onions, rice noodles and egg noddles. To color, add soy sauce and stir. This should take just about 2 minutes to cook.
Serve with calamansi (lime). Optionally with coffee :) And hot sauce.
Enjoy, bon ap!
